40th anniversary follow up - thank you!

Posted by James Graham on

THANK YOU to everyone who came to our 40th anniversary celebration yesterday, or who otherwise helped us to reach our fundraising target for Great Ormond Street Hospital and Charity. In the end, we raised a total of £1,513 as part of our charity appeal - plus Tim, our stalwart Star Wars Unlimited demonstrater raised another £60 as part of his own GOSH charity challenge.

As everyone who came can attest, the day itself was welll above capacity, and we're sorry to everyone who came but was disappointed when we ran out of chairs and space to play. We sold out of our Goodie Bags and were overwhelmed by the number of pre-loved games that were donated to the Bring and Buy table.

A lot of people have said that we should do it again soon. The short answer is, we are! The local convention TwinCon will be held again on Saturday 1st November. Based in Totteridge (a few stops up the Northern Line from Finchley Central), they will be running much of the same activities and will have even more space. We'll be there as usual and hope to see you there.

In addition, the Finchley Games Club is still going strong, 39 years after being set up by Leisure Games's founder Tony Berry. It meets every Thursday in Woodside Park (two stops up from us on the Northern Line!).

Thanks to both TwinCon and the FGC for all of their help at Ruby-Con.

Thanks also to our GMs Fabio and Rob, to Asmodee UK for running the demos of Fate of the Fellowship and the Battle of Hoth, and to Minor Disaster Games for demoing their upcoming game Trouble on the Tempus, and hosting all of our oversubscribed games of Blood on the Clocktower.

We hope to see you soon, and look forward to our Golden Anniversary in 10 years time!
