Do Not Adjust Your Set

Do Not Adjust Your Set

Ex Stasis Games

  • £15.00

The best urban legends are shocking, gross, just about plausible, or all of the above. Those are the sweet spots we’re aiming at with these scenarios. And they're system-neutral so they'll work with pretty much any modern horror TTRPG.

Each scenario includes a full set of scenes and a diagram of the scenario's likely progress to help you move between them and stay on track, plus a full set of NPCs with motivations, strengths and weaknesses. Antagonists' powers are described clearly and straightforwardly. All you'll need to do is add stats from whatever TTRPG system you're using.

Do Not Adjust Your Set includes seven complete scenarios, each intended to be played over a couple of sessions. You can run them separately, or link them together into a set of weird phenomena connected by the eponymous late-night, public-access TV show.

  • Kill Screen exposes the characters to a video game that may or may not be a gate to hell. It’s got digital ghosts, three-headed wireframe monsters, a soupçon of romance, and a touch of retro games nostalgia.
  • Arriving After Sunset takes the characters to an art gallery to drink in the details of a painting that’s both a seminal work of queer art, and a vessel to fulfilling your deepest desires. Needless to say, the players’ characters aren’t the only people interested in that opportunity.
  • In House D.I.E., a stressed-out sorority tries to murder their way to success in their final exams — but history’s repeating itself, and the students’ deadly choices may not be entirely their own.
  • The Phantom Gasser unlocks the door to an apartment building that’s fallen prey to a murderous presence. But is it the Mad Gasser, back from the grave, or is it just an example of mundane, human evil? (Or is there a secret, third option?)
  • The Lamplighter is an entity, and also negative space. He, or it, is a hole in the world, and on the far side are worlds made entirely of your fears and shortcomings. This is the darkest of our stories, and the most dangerous.
  • A Castle Suite in the Air is a classic vanishing room legend, set in a sinister, remote hotel. This one gives the players an opportunity to stop a burgeoning urban legend before it takes root.
  • The Signal Man ties the other scenarios together. In this one, the characters track the source of Do Not Adjust Your Set through a cryptic numbers station that suggests the show isn’t just revealing these horrors but creating them. It’s time to shut down the broadcast (or the upload) and put an end to this.
