Gumshoe
The Gumshoe system is a role-playing game system developed by Robin Laws in 2007. It has formed the basis of numerous games, mostly published by Pelgrane Publishing. The system is used for settings where investigation is a key part of gameplay: instead of rolling dice to see if an investigation succeeds, player characters automatically receive clues.
Gumshoe was first used in the games Fear Itself and Esoterrorists. Trail of Cthulhu used the system for a game based on the works of H.P. Lovecraft. It has since branched out into science-fiction, espionage and fantasy.
